How do you review your process?

How do you review your process?

Take the time to review your process!

The more goals you have, the more you’ll accomplish. The more you perform, the better you’ll understand what works for you and what doesn’t.

Reviewing your process is something that not many people do. Once you finish something, you move onto the next thing. You probably learned because of the process, but what did you know about the process?

Figuring out the best ways to work, find motivation, and keep yourself accountable is very valuable. It helps you create a better relationship between your mind and your body. It will make setting and reaching new goals more manageable and more enjoyable. It’ll also add a layer of personal accountability. You’ll be aware of areas where you slacked and what led to that slacking.

Not sure how to review your process? Here are four steps you can use to do just that:

Document them well in the first place – Documenting the process of growth is an odd concept. You can’t understand what you’re experiencing because it’s brand new. However, it is imperative to do. Once you finish something, it can be hard to remember how you felt in the moment.

One way to combat this is to keep a fitness journal and use it daily. Write down how you feel before and after workouts, how you sleep, and what kind of energy you have after eating foods. You can also use a variety of different mobile apps to track progress.

Then figure out what worked… It’s a little bit of extra work in the present, but documenting your progress will give you valuable insight in the future. Knowing the things that worked for you and made you successful will make you more efficient at setting new goals in the future. You’ll be able to remember and repeat these things easily.

If you used a journal, you’d be able to flip back through and remember what gave you energy, what you liked, and how you can replicate those things. Enjoying what you’re doing does wonder for your mental and physical health.

And what didn’t? You’ll experience things you don’t like on your fitness journey, and that’s okay! Fitness does not have to be a grind all the time. It would be best to work hard to see results, but you should also enjoy what you’re doing. Recognize what you don’t like, acknowledge it, and then do what you want.

Depending on what your goal is, you should try a lot of different methods at first. If you’re looking to get stronger, try lifting weights, taking an FNS class, and doing bodyweight exercises. Try other healthy foods and recipes. Try as much as you can so you can weed out things you don’t like. When you set a new goal, you’ll have a wide variety of things that you know you like that you can keep doing.

Use that info for your following goals – Once you finish a goal and conduct a review of the process, it’s time to move on to your next step, whatever that may be. You’ll have a ton of personalized information about the most effective and efficient ways that you grow. You’ll have a better understand of yourself, which is what growth is all about.
