Why One Should Celebrate Strengths?

Why One Should Celebrate Strengths?

We, as humans, cling to weakness & negatives and, in the process, forget to recognize and celebrate our strengths & positives.

Not everybody can be good at everything, but everyone is good at something. Strengths can be in any form – emotional, physical, mental and all of these forms are important.

While you must know what you’re good at, you must also know the areas of improvement. The awareness and acknowledgement stage helps you become a better person and grow in all aspects of your life.

So, identify your strengths & celebrate them, never compare yourself with others, identify & work on your weaknesses and take time to reflect.

1. Identify Your Strengths

Go beyond the obvious, like communication or being a good listener. Your strength is something that sets you apart, something that people come to you for or something that makes you, you.

Let’s say something unexpected happened to you, something you were not ready for and how you reacted or what you did to handle that situation could be your strength.

Determination, the ability to smile through tears, empathy, resilience – your strength gives you the ability to handle any situation and rise above all the odds.

If you find it difficult to put a pin on your strengths, talk to your friends, family or colleagues. Sometimes the people close to you know better about you than you. You might come across something that will change how you look at things or handle things.

2. Don’t Compare Yourself with Others

As they say, no two fingers are alike.

You grow when you get inspired, learn and grow to look at other people. Don’t compare yourself with anyone. Your journey is different, the challenges you faced, the highs you experienced. All of that makes you, you. So, embrace it all.

Talk to yourself with kindness. Don’t self-sabotage. The best thing about you is you are different. Acknowledge and make the most of it.

3. Work on Your Weaknesses

Don’t be delusional. So, you have some areas you need improvements on, which is not bad. We all have weaknesses; we need to identify them and think about measures to work on them.

The scope of improvement allows you to grow and become a better person.

Don’t dwell on your weaknesses. They are not permanent. You can turn them into your strengths with hard work and failure. Maybe the factors you consider as your strengths were your weaknesses at some point. But you turned things around, right? You can do it again.

You will not always win, but at least you will grow into a better version of yourself.

4. Reflect

Now, you know your strengths and weaknesses. Take a moment to process it all and think deeply about all your accomplishments and all that you still want to achieve.

Note down your strengths and weaknesses. Make a plan of how you will capitalise on your strengths and how you will work on your weaknesses. To put it in simple words, it’s a balancing act.

A year from now, your weaknesses will be your strengths. Manifest it and get ready to make change happen.
